This term we have been exploring the topic of ‘Time Travellers.’ We have stepped back in time to the Roman era.
Language, Literacy and Communication
We began our topic by reading the myth of Romulus and Remus. It is believed that Romulus founded the city of Rome. In our creative sessions we made our own Roman shields. We wrote instructions explaining how to make a Roman shield. We included time connectives and bossy verbs.
Mathematics and Numeracy
In maths we have been adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers. We have been practising a new pictorial strategy to help us work out our addition and subtraction problems.
We looked at the key events of the Roman Empire and created a timeline. In Science we investigated the most suitable material for a roman shield. We used weights to test the strength of cardboard, foil and paper. We found out that cardboard was the strongest and used this to make our shield.
